Barbie broke Harry Potter record for collecting revenue

The New York Times published information that Barbie directed by Greta Gerwig collected $1bn at the box office in just 17 days, doing that faster than other films from Warner Bros, TASS reports

The film premiered in the United States on July 21st, 2023, and it broke out into the leaders of the film distribution in record time.

“As of Sunday [August 6^th], Barbie had been playing in theatres for 17 days. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 was previously the fastest to $1bn, at 19 days,” the publication reads.

The film featuring Margot Robbie (Barbie) and Ryan Gosling (Ken) held the lead in Canada and the United States for the third weekend in a row, and the total box office fees amounted to more than $459m.
