Andreichenko: Belarus-Kazakhstan trade turnover exceeded $1.2bn in 2022

The agricultural segment occupies a significant place in trade between the two countries, and high-quality Belarusian products are traditionally in high demand in Kazakhstan – as stated by the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Vladimir Andreichenko, on meeting the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus, Yerlan Baizhanov

“This is a natural result of the intensive modernisation of the processing industry and the introduction of the most modern technologies and equipment into production. Your country is also following this path (in 2023, sixty-five modern dairy farms were planned to be built in Kazakhstan). I believe that the Belarusian experience will be extremely useful for farmers in Kazakhstan. Belarus is ready to provide the necessary assistance, including the design and construction of farms, the renewal of the fleet of agricultural machinery. Our working groups need to continue their active work, paying close attention to the economic sphere, since – as the Belarusian President says – the economy is at the heart of everything. If the economy functions well, then there will be everything else – including salaries, pensions, and social stability,” Mr. Andreichenko said.

The politician emphasised that, despite the unjustified sanctions imposed against Belarus by the United States and its allies, the trade turnover with Kazakhstan exceeded $858m (2.1 percent less compared to the same period last year) in nine months of 2023. Last year, the trade turnover stood at more than $1.2bn.

“Our task is to prevent a decline in the pace of trade and economic co-operation, and this is especially relevant for our joint ventures. There are seven of them on the territory of Kazakhstan, including such flagships as the Minsk Tractor Plant, Gomselmash, and the Minsk Automobile Plant. The existing joint production facilities already allow manufacturing up to 10 thousand tractors and one thousand combines per year in Kazakhstan. We propose to consider the creation of a joint assembly production of electric vehicles in Kazakhstan together with the Belkommunmash Holding. The Belarusian manufacturer of fire and rescue equipment, Pozhsnab, is ready to supply fire and forest fire equipment for the needs of Kazakhstan, and it is also interested in the creation of a joint facility,” Mr. Andreichenko added.
