Ambassador of Tajikistan informed on points of trade turnover growth with Belarus

Creating conditions for close business contacts and relying on industrial co-operation can increase the level of trade turnover between Belarus and Tajikistan – as stated by the Ambassador of Tajikistan to Belarus, Bakhtovar Safarzoda, after his today’s meeting with President Aleksandr Lukashenko

According to the diplomat, trade turnover is an indicator that can help in assessing interstate relations. Although the dynamics of trade between Belarus and Tajikistan decreased last year, Mr. Safarzoda stated with confidence, “All action plans within the framework of the intergovernmental commission, trade and economic joint agreements indicate that our countries can catch up and surpass the figures of 2023 this year. As they say, a good year is visible from the very beginning. The Ambassador of Tajikistan has become the first foreign ambassador received by the President, and we hope this will be a good impetus for development.”

Speaking of the specific projects, the diplomat noted, “There is an idea to establish a multifunctional centre in Minsk, since this would facilitate co-ordination of the business circles of Belarus and Tajikistan.” He said with regret that there is no direct contact between businesses and trade representatives of the two countries, and therefore the multifunctional shopping complex would become a kind of the co-ordination centre.

At the same time, the Agrotechservice company has been successfully operating in Tajikistan since 2017, on the basis of which the assembly of MTZ tractors, Bobruiskagromash trailers and Gomselmash equipment has been established. Mr. Safarzoda said, “This is a well-functioning model example for joint co-operation. In addition to the Tajik market, the assembly products already enjoy success in the neighbouring countries. This is a priority direction.”

During the meeting with Aleksandr Lukashenko which was held in the spirit of strategic partnership, according to the diplomat, almost all areas of bilateral co-operation were discussed. There are many agreements between the two countries at the level of political, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations, and the leaders of Belarus and Tajikistan plan to actively implement them. During the meeting, attention was also paid to the intensification of mutual tourism.
