Belarus-Iran turnover tripled in 2022

In his speech at a reception on the occasion of the 44th Victory Anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Belarus, Saeed Yari, said bilateral relations are developing successfully

As noted by the diplomat, Belarus and Iran actively co-operated in the political, parliamentary, consular, trade, economic, scientific and cultural spheres in 2022. High-level visits and consultations were held, and a 3-fold increase in bilateral trade turnover (against the 2021 figures) was registered.

"In addition to developing and raising the level of bilateral relations, I would also like to note that the two countries mutually co-operate in international and regional organisations and support each other's positions against external interference and the unilateral approach of some ambitious countries that contradict the accepted principles of international law," Saeed Yari said.

The diplomat emphasised that Iran adheres to the principles of dialogue based on respect for the sovereignty and equality of all countries and condemns the policy of interference in internal affairs and the imposition of sanctions against other countries. “I would like to stress that the development of relations with neighbouring and friendly countries, as well as with the states moving in the same direction, including the Republic of Belarus, is among the priorities of the foreign policy of the Government of His Excellency Mr. Ebrahim Raisi, the respected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Mutual trust and respect for state sovereignty have been the basis of mutual bilateral relations over the past 30 years, which have continued their balanced and comprehensive growth based on common interests,” he said.

According to Saeed Yari, in the year of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Iran, various events in the field of culture, art and economy will be held in both countries.
