Possible areas of co-operation between Belarus and a large Indian pharmaceutical company are being worked out during the visit of a delegation of the National Academy of Sciences to India, the NAS press service reports

As noted, the delegation led by Chairman of the NAS Presidium Vladimir Karanik arrived to India and has already visited a facility of one of the world leaders in the development and production of generic drugs: the pharmaceutical company Cipla. Its research centre is engaged into the development of methods for creating drugs, the validation of ready-made dosage forms and the entire technological process, including the development, scaling and release of ready-made medicines.

Negotiations were held with the centre’s heads, who were presented with the Belarusian pharmaceutical developments of Academpharm, KhimPharmSintez, IBOCH and others. In turn, the Belarusian delegation got acquainted with the centre’s capabilities in the development of new medicines and validation of technological equipment.

As noted by the NAS press service, the parties found points for co-operation, and possible areas of joint activity are planned to be discussed in detail at a meeting with the largest pharmaceutical companies’ heads.

India ranks third in the world in terms of volume and 14th in terms of the cost of manufactured medicines. This was stated in a report of the country’s Department of Pharmaceuticals at the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers. India's share in the global pharmaceutical market is 10 percent in packaging volume and 1.5 percent in value terms.
