“I’m sincerely glad to welcome you in Belarus, in Minsk. You are true friends of the Belarusian people,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko. “I have been following the development of your region with interest for a long time. I must say that the successes are impressive and inspire us to work even more actively with Kazan.”

At the same time, the President drew attention to the fact that Belarus and Tatarstan are very similar, “I often give this example: when I fly by or visit you, I am amazed at how similar your land is to that of Belarus: almost a copy. If you don’t know that you were flying over Tatarstan, you would have thought that this is one to one nature of our Belarus. Moreover, we have developed a very productive business relationships, and the potential of our ties is enormous.”

The President noted that during the recent visit of the Belarusian delegation headed by the PM to Tatarstan, particular areas of co-operation were identified. Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that about 50 percent of Minsk-Kazan trade turnover is currently ensured by petrochemicals, “Therefore, the growth of trade in 2022 by more than 5 percent (up to $1bn) is a good indicator though it does not fully reflect our capabilities. After all, petrochemistry is only one direction. We need at all costs to expand the range of mutual deliveries, co-operation, and the establishment of joint ventures. I am sure that during your current visit you attended and will attend the relevant enterprises. If you have any interests, we will definitely work in this direction.”

Rustam Minnikhanov is visiting Belarus for the fourth time as the Head of Tatarstan. The programme of the current visit also includes negotiations in the Government and a visit to a number of enterprises, including Amkodor, Adani unitary enterprise, he Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation (BNBC), and the Minsk Civil Aviation Plant.
