Peat extraction season started in Belarus
Lyakhovichsky Peat Briquette Works OJSC, Turshovka JSC, Brestoblgaz UE started peat extraction, and, as of April 15th, they extracted the first 8,000 tonnes of peat, sb.by reports with reference to the Telegram channel of the Belarusian energy department
It is planned that, with the improvement of weather conditions, the other 14 peat industry enterprises of the Energy Ministry system will be gradually deployed.
By the beginning of the season, peat plants are fully equipped with machinery, the necessary fuel reserves have been created, and swamp preparatory work has been carried out on existing peat fields.
In 2024, industry organisations have the task of extracting about 2m tonnes of peat, of which about 1m tonnes of fuel products and more than 140,000 tonnes of non-fuel products will be produced.
The products of peat briquetting plants are shipped to housing and communal services organisations, the cement industry, the population, are in demand in the agro-industrial complex, forestry, and are exported.
“Belarus ranks first in the world in terms of production of peat briquettes,” the press service of the Energy Ministry noted.
