France's air traffic control strike led to flight suspensions across Europe
On April 25th, flight delays and cancellations will affect most of Europe due to the inability to reach a deal with some French air traffic control workers to prevent a strike, Reuters reports
France's DGAC civil aviation authority said on April 24th that it had asked airlines to cut flights by 75 per cent at Paris-Orly airport, by 55 per cent at Paris Charles-De-Gaulle airport, and by 65 per cent at Marseille Provence airport on April 25th.
“Air traffic control strikes in France frequently impact travel in Europe, limiting not only flights into France but also across the country's airspace,” the agency notes.
Ryanair had warned that because of the strike on April 25th, it would cancel more than 300 flights, including from Great Britain to Spain or to Italy, increasing the pressure on European Union officials to influence the French administration in order to limit the impact of the strikes.
