Work… and make money

Belarus enjoys all necessary conditions for businessmen to work and earn money

An entrepreneur and political scientist, Vadim Borovik, believes the state is directly interested in creating favourable conditions for economic entities of all forms of ownership, “These are direct budget revenues, development of the business initiatives, attraction of investment and creation of new jobs – along other benefits. As a recent working visit, the Head of State voiced some theses with which I fully agree. Primarily, tax payment is a serious aspect of doing business in any country, and non-payment of taxes – especially in the United States and Western Europe – entails a severe responsibility. It’s normal when the President – on behalf of our state – addresses businessmen to forget about paying under the counter but to pay all taxes. This is how the whole civilised world behaves.”

Moreover, Mr. Borovik in convinced: corrupt activities should not be varnished with politics. “It’s wrong when some individual entrepreneurs are involved in illegal schemes but – on feeling that the outcome is here – start shielding themselves with certain views or campaigns. It’s important for businessmen to always be honest and decent. When announcing political ambitions, they should understand that their activities would be scrutinised virtually under a microscope. In Belarus, all social allowances and pensions are paid out of taxes, and the infrastructure development relies on these payments.”

At the same time, honest businessmen interested in working in Belarus should not be subject to pressure. “They should feel comfortable, develop their businesses, make a profit and create jobs – though also thinking not only about their own earnings but also about a decent standard of living of their employees. In my opinion, law enforcement practice should be not repressive but stimulating,” the businessman says, adding, “All conditions have been created in Belarus for people to work, make money and feel comfortable. It’s simply needed to follow the law.”
