Vietnam became BRICS partner country
Vietnam joined the BRICS association as a partner country –as noted by Pham Thu Hang, the Director of the Information and Press Department at the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry, TASS reports
Commenting on reports in the foreign media that Brazil, which is currently chairing BRICS, has announced that Vietnam will be granted partner status, she noted that ‘Vietnam has become a BRICS partner country, with a desire to contribute actively to enhancing the voice and role of developing countries, while promoting international solidarity and inclusive multilateralism based on respect for international law’.
In the spirit of proactive, comprehensive and effective international integration, Pham Thu Hang says that Vietnam has been making practical contributions to the work of multilateral mechanisms, organisations and forums. This contributes to peace, stability, co-operation and development in the region and around the world.
“The fact that Vietnam has become a BRICS partner country reaffirms the country’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification of external relations, being a friend, a reliable partner, and a proactive and responsible member of the international community,” the official representative of the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry concluded.
