UAE plans to invest $130bn in decarbonisation of national economy by 2030

The United Arab Emirates intends to invest $130bn in decarbonisation of the national economy in the next seven years – as stated by the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, TASS reports

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the World Climate Action Summit, the UAE President noted, “The United Arab Emirates has invested $100bn in the fight against climate change, as well as in the development of renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources. We intend to invest another $130bn over the next seven years."

In 2021, the UAE unveiled its Net Zero 2050 strategic programme aimed at achieving the country's carbon neutrality by 2050.

The World Climate Action Summit is taking place in Dubai. It is the main event of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28). Delegations from about 150 countries, including the Republic of Belarus, have come to participate in the event. The summit is truly representative, as it is attended by the leaders of dozens of states. Among them is the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko.
