Szijjarto: lack of dialogue in EU made it less safe

If we don’t go back to the principles of dialogue and mutual respect, Europe is going to be less safe and lose its future growth potential, said the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto on the side-lines of the 2nd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security

“I believe, the key and most important word today is ‘sovereignty’”, emphasised the Hungarian FM before continuing, “We, Hungarians, maintain our sovereignty, but there are certain forces that would like us to relinquish some of it. For us, sovereignty means that we don’t kowtow to third parties and always mind our own interests. We look at the world from our own point of view. We don’t expect others to look at it from our point of view, but we do expect them to don’t expect that from us, either.”

At the same time, Mr. Szijjarto pointed out that lack of dialogue in the EU made that space far less safe or competitive.

“If we don’t go back to the principles of dialogue and mutual respect, Europe is going to be less safe and lose its future growth potential,” he added.
