Hussein Makhlouf stressed that his country needs more equipment to cope with the earthquake consequences, “Our country is not ready to cope with such disasters, especially after the end of the war. The terrorist war imposed on Syria has led to the destruction of infrastructure and the loss of more than 50,000 units of engineering machinery and equipment which we needed so much [to eliminate the consequences of the disaster].”

Powerful earthquakes occurred in the south-east of Turkiye on February 6th, with at least two temblors of magnitude 7.7 registered. The temblors, followed by about 300 aftershocks, affected Syria as well.
