The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, Natalya Kochanova, noted that, in addition to the economic component, the most important effect of the forum is the substance of the established contacts, “An event of this scale is primarily a platform for building trust, exchanging ideas, and developing joint approaches to solving global and sectoral challenges. It creates conditions for the generation of initiatives and projects. This is an effect that is difficult to measure immediately; it manifests itself over time.”
Natalya Kochanova added that legislators and industry regulators of Belarus and Uzbekistan should create the necessary legal conditions for business development in all industries and sectors — improve the regulatory framework, stimulating investment,
“We must work to eradicate barriers to mutual trade without red tape and bureaucracy in order to bring trade turnover to one billion dollars in the near future. This is precisely the task formulated in the roadmap approved by the presidents of our countries.”
Among the specific areas in this work, Natalya Kochanova mentioned accelerating the certification procedures for mutually supplied products, and the creation of joint ventures, “The production potential of the two states is simply enormous. Thus, Belarusian farmers are capable of feeding three countries of Belarus’ size today, and they are ready to supply their products to Uzbekistan, and share their accumulated experience.”
According to Natalya Kochanova, in addition to strengthening business ties, the business forum also serves as a platform for bringing our regions closer together.

The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis underscored that the strategic vision and initiatives of the presidents of Uzbekistan and Belarus gave the new dynamics to bilateral relations and brought them to the level of sustainable partnership.
Tanzila Narbayeva noted that Uzbekistan is interested in continuing to work consistently to step up co-operation, paying attention to the implementation of joint projects in key industries.
Contacts are already actively developing in the textile, pharmaceutical, electrotechnical, agricultural and other fields, as emphasised by the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis,
“We have every opportunity to create new joint ventures in the field of garment and knitwear manufacture, as well as for the production of packaging materials for the food industry. Industrial co-operation projects are being successfully implemented and interregional business partnership is actively gaining momentum.”

COLLABORATION IN FIGURES

• The trade turnover between Belarus and Uzbekistan amounted to $714m last year.
• Since 2017, there have been more than 40 mutual visits between the regions of the two countries.

Greetings to the participants of the 3rd Belarusian–Uzbek Women’s Business Forum were sent by the presidents of Belarus and Uzbekistan, Aleksandr Lukashenko and Shavkat Mirziyoyev

The greeting from the Belarusian leader says, in particular: ‘The success of joint initiatives is largely due to the active role of Belarusian and Uzbek women, who play a significant role in promoting and protecting the interests of our states. I am confident that the Women’s Business Forum, which has already become a traditional event, will serve as a starting point for new agreements that will undoubtedly contribute to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries and improving the well-being of their citizens’.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasised that traditional meetings of women’s business communities of our countries facilitate the increasing dynamics of bilateral co-operation, ‘Over the past five years, the volume of trade turnover has doubled, while investment and interregional co-operation has expanded. Women’s entrepreneurship has become an important factor in this transformation: women are successfully demonstrating leadership in innovation, social business and international business dialogue’.

THERE IS A LOT TO OFFER!

The exhibition showcasing achievements of the national economies of Belarus and Uzbekistan held in Vitebsk demonstrated the high potential of our countries

The exposition was located on an area of 1,200 square metres near the Vitebsk Concert Hall. It was visited by parliamentary delegations of the two countries, headed by the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of Belarus’ National Assembly, Natalya Kochanova, and the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbayeva.
The current platform has once again shown that our peoples have a lot to offer each other — not competing, but complementing each other. At the exhibition, guests could get acquainted with textile, meat and dairy, bakery, agricultural and other products. There was also mutual hospitality: Uzbek chefs treated guests to pilaf, khamsa [meat pie] with tea, and Belarusians — to draniki [potato pancakes] and mors [fruit drink].
