Olympic champions will raise flags during 2nd CIS Games grand opening

During today’s solemn ceremony of the official opening of the 2nd CIS Games in Minsk, the audience will see the brightest spectacle, according to the organisers of the show at Minsk-Arena, BelTA reports

It is expected that the State Flag of Belarus will be hoisted by famous Belarusian athletes: two-time Olympic champion in rowing Yekaterina Karsten, Olympic champion in trampoline jumping Ivan Litvinovich and Olympic champion in kayaking and canoeing Aleksandr Maseykov. The flag of the Commonwealth of Independent States will be hoisted by Olympic champions in athletics Yanina Provalinskaya-Korolchik, Yulia Nesterenko, and Olympic champion in handball Andrey Barbashinsky.

During the festive performance, the audience will enjoy a grandiose sports spectacle with the use of modern technologies and artistic solutions: LED screens, thousands of pieces of lighting equipment, mass choreographic performances and musical compositions that charge athletes for victory.

More than 1,200 dancers, volunteers, young performers, eminent artists and famous athletes will take part in the 2nd CIS Games opening ceremony.

The closing ceremony of the 2nd CIS Games will take place on August 13th, also at Minsk Arena.

Over 2,200 athletes from 23 countries will take part in competitions across 20 sports in all regions of Belarus.
