“The annual competition among CIS aviation companies is organised by the Airport Association of CIS Civil Aviation, of which Minsk Airport has been a member since 1997. In late May, the association’s annual general meeting was held in Moscow, where the results of 2024 activities were summarised and the winners of the Best Airport of the Year competition were announced. During the awards ceremony, Minsk Airport was presented with an honorary diploma and the CIS Best Airport 2024 cup by the association,” the press service noted.

The press service added that the participating enterprises were evaluated based on objective criteria relating to the development of the route network, improvements to passenger services and the enhancement of the material and technical infrastructure. Flight safety and passenger comfort were also taken into account.

The Airport Association of CIS Civil Aviation was established in December 1990. This non-governmental, non-profit organisation aims to co-ordinate its members’ activities, expand their business opportunities and represent and protect their interests.

Minsk National Airport is Belarus’ main air gateway. Its two artificial runways are equipped with modern equipment, enabling it to receive all types of aircraft without restrictions in difficult weather conditions. The first runway is 3,641m long and 60m wide; the second is 3,700m long and 60m wide. The company comprises the Orsha and Mogilev branches, both of which have been awarded international airfield status. By the end of 2024, Minsk National Airport had fulfilled its projected socio-economic development parameters. As a result of the thoroughly co-ordinated and professional work of all services, the number of flights per year increased by 9 percent, the volume of cargo handled rose by 17 percent, and there was a 13 percent increase in passenger traffic. The number of passengers served exceeded 2.8 million.
