496m Russian Roubles from the Union State budget will be allocated for new projects as part of the Brest Fortress reconstruction, State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev told reporters. These funds will be earmarked for 11 projects over three years.
Dmitry Mezentsev underlined that it was important for the Union State Standing Committee to present the beginning of a new stage in the restoration and museumification of the hero-fortress.
“This is the most important project for us, the project of our souls and hearts. Art historians, restorers, and highly qualified specialists were involved. We want to determine our place and role in the formation of a patriotic education centre, which – according to the proposal and plan of Aleksandr Lukashenko – will be created on the Kobrin fortifications,” said Dmitry Mezentsev.
