Makei: arms race and militarisation of our region intensifying
We are now witnessing not only acceleration of the arms race but also intensified militarisation of our region – as stated by Belarus’ Foreign Minister, Vladimir Makei, at a meeting of the Foreign Ministry’s collegium today, BelTA reports
"The global confrontation has shifted from a latent to an open phase, and is now accompanied by a sharp increase in economic competition for access to resources and technologies, a struggle for control over critical supply chains, and a desire to ‘geopolitically master’ the territories of third states. We are witnessing not only an acceleration of the arms race, but also intensified militarisation of our region," Belarus’ Foreign Minister stressed.
Mr. Makei emphasised that – in conditions of escalating information wars – western and some other media and Internet segments are aggressively promoting an idea of the inevitability of a new big war.
