On August 15th, during the solemn opening ceremony of the Call of Polesie International Festival of Ethnocultural Traditions in Lyaskovichi, Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke about the origins of the festival, sb.by reports
The Head of State noted that when he was first asked to support the festival, he had some doubts because organising such an event is costly. Moreover, a similar festival is already held in Alexandria during the Kupala Night celebration.
“I thought: it’s expensive... But what convinced me to back this festival was primarily your enthusiasm. After all, it began with the Poleshuks. How could I not support the Poleshuks? That’s how your festival started and continues to grow steadily. We will do everything to ensure that this flame does not go out,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.
