Lukashenko signed decree on conscription to military service and service in the reserve

On January 24th, the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, signed Decree No. 19 On Retirement to Reserve, Conscription to Military Service and Service in the Reserve, the Belarusian leader’s press service reports

The decree provides for the call up to military service, service in the reserve of male citizens of Belarus who are 18 years old by the day of conscription and who are not entitled to deferment from conscription, citizens of military age who have forfeited the right to deferment from conscription, as well as to service in the reserve of citizens from among first-year students of higher educational establishments of an agricultural profile that have the right to deferment from conscription for continuing education but have expressed a desire to undergo such service.

The decree aims to help republican bodies of state administration, local executive and administrative bodies carry out timely measures for conscription of citizens to military service and service in the reserve.

The document also provides for the discharge from active duty of the military who have completed the established term of military service to the reserve.
