Lukashenko's team reached finish line of Minsk Ski Track 2023 biathlon relay race first

The Republican Olympic Training Centre for Winter Sports, Raubichi, was crowded on February 25th, and the atmosphere of a great sports festival reigned there: top state leaders’ teams were showing their mettle on the track

At the starting stage, Lyudmila Kalinchik, who successfully defended the country’s honour at major biathlon competitions for many years, ran for the President's team, which actually took part in the sports festival beyond the overall standings. The sportswoman was truly skilful and, from the first metres of the distance, Lyudmila confidently took the lead. Skis were smoothly taking her along the track – which was perfectly prepared, despite the wet weather. Lyudmila was also fast and accurate on the firing lines, and Olga Nazarova went to the second stage having a decent advantage over her pursuers. In the past, Olga also took part in many top-level biathlon competitions, and she performed brilliantly in Raubichi as well. In turn, Sergei Novikov – a silver medallist of the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver – went third. His speed was high, and the man also confirmed his reputation as a sniper: he made not a single miss at the range.

Aleksandr Lukashenko completed the relay. The Head of State confidently covered his part of the distance and became the first of all the participants to cross the finish line – under the accompaniment of a standing ovation.
