Belarus is the only country in the post-Soviet space that has maintained such a unique microelectronics manufacturing facility as Planar — as stated by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko during his today’s visit to the Planar Holding Company in Minsk

Planar’s Director General Sergei Avakov reported to the Head of State on the results of the holding’s work and its future plans. In particular, three investment projects are currently being implemented here, partially funded by Russian credit resources. One of the recent major achievements is the launch of the Centre for Specialised Technological Equipment for the production of photomasks and micro-optics. This is the only facility within the former USSR countries able to manufacture technology-level products at 90 nanometres, which are essential for creating advanced electronic engineering devices. All works were completed in the shortest possible time, enabling the facility to be finished two years ahead of schedule. The Head of State fully supports such a pace of work.

Addressing the enterprise leader, Aleksandr Lukashenko said, “If you keep advancing, you will always have work and earn good income. Not just here. We are the only country [in the post-Soviet space] that has preserved this production on such a scale.”

The Head of State also mentioned that during his discussions with Vladimir Putin, the Russian leader consistently expressed Russia’s willingness to invest in joint microelectronics projects with Belarus, assuring that Russia would readily provide funding, “And why? Because you have outperformed everyone. Both in Belarus and Russia, you have surpassed all others. This is the future.”

The President highlighted that Belarus has managed to preserve the industries it inherited from the Soviet Union. Additionally, with the support provided by the state at the time, the remaining Soviet-era enterprises were modernised and upgraded. One notable example is Integral, a major consumer of Planar’s products. The Head of State added that early in his presidency, he intuitively understood that it was important to preserve the advanced industries inherited from the USSR. “Our time has come. We invested funds for a purpose. The dreams held by people during the Soviet era — the ones who built this foundation — are starting to come true. We have become sought after. Therefore, you will always receive money, just like any of our other enterprises, as long as you stay ahead and produce products that are in demand worldwide.”
