BelInterGen Director Ivan Kyssa reported to the President that throughout the year, each cow on the farm produces 38 litres of milk daily, with very high fat and protein levels, resulting in nearly 50 percent profitability over five months.

“I don’t find anything especially remarkable here. He just arranged things and is working on this small plot of land. This is the way to have profitable livestock in Belarus without any major reforms or modernisation,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov reported to the President on the development of pedigree livestock breeding in Belarus.

“First of all, thank you for maintaining the structure of the pedigree service in our country,” Yuri Gorlov said to the Head of State.

“The thanks are not for me, but for the specialists who proposed reasonable ideas. I came here today specifically to find something reasonable. And the only reasonable approach is adhering to technological discipline. We have understood these technologies for a long time, since the early days when we started working. What’s new here? Feeding on time, milking on time, and selling milk properly,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.

The President also discussed farming and private initiatives in agriculture. Aleksandr Lukashenko believes it is appropriate that Belarus has maintained large-scale state production.

“We maintain these collective and state farms in the country to ensure that people are fed in every possible way,” the Head of State emphasised. “We are a northern country with risky agriculture. Nevertheless, we lead in agricultural production because we control this process.”

The President is not opposed to farming or the transfer of land to private owners; however, he stresses that, fundamentally, “If a farmer requires land and we observe that they work effectively — that’s fine, they can have the land. This process must be handled carefully, and we need to identify those farmers who have already proven their results.”

The BelInterGen-Agro private agricultural company can be considered a good example of advanced agricultural practices. Nevertheless, as the President pointed out, some farms are truly alarming to see: everything is disorganised, broken, equipment is scattered around, and there is no order — such negligent management is, of course, unacceptable.
