Lukashenko on how women became example for men in times of trials

Outwardly delicate and fragile Belarusian ladies are always harder than steel in times of hardships, and this has been an example for men – as noted by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, during his today’s meeting with the activists of the Belarusian Women’s Union public association

The Head of State noted that there is a special attitude towards women in Belarus, and this has historical grounds, “Belarusian women shared the hardships of war times on an equal basis with men. They rescued the wounded on the battlefield, worked in the rear, assisted partisans and participated in the underground movement. They faced a hard time when the republic had to be rebuilt in the post-war years.”

After losing husbands, fathers and sons at the front, the grandmothers and mothers of the present generation gathered themselves up to revive the country, and the Belarusian leader stressed, “This land is soaked with sweat and blood of your predecessors. When the issue of preserving the state came up again, you – outwardly so delicate, fragile and vulnerable – turned out to be inner harder than steel, thus setting an example for men. We just had no right to be weaker, we could not betray you. Thanks to that, we stood up and won together. Thanks to that, we – men – actually exist.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko added that Belarusian women are real workers, “You make a significant contribution to the country's economy, realise yourself in all spheres, including high-tech and innovative sectors. There are no heights that Belarusian ladies would not reach! Very soon our compatriot will go into space.”

The Head of State also highly appreciated a TV project of the Belarusian Women’s Union – Belarusian Super-Woman – adding that he often watches it.
