Lukashenko convened meeting on salaries and monetary allowances of state employees

Today the President is holding a meeting on salaries and monetary allowances of state employees. Addressing those present, Aleksandr Lukashenko reminded that he had recently made a decision to raise salaries in state-financed organisations, referring to doctors, teachers, and civil servants – all those who are related to the budget.

“Despite certain problems, we have found opportunities to support these people,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

However, according to the President, the real sector of the economy is a priority, as always, “Plants, factories, agriculture and so on should be a priority. It happened so (and in terms of legislation) that state employees, their wages, military personnel, their monetary allowances are related to these categories of the real sector of the economy.”

Of course, the state has never forgotten about the support of state employees. For example, the Head of State recalled that during the pandemic, doctors were paid serious COVID allowances, “Life is life. It happened so that it was somehow indecent to take them away from doctors after this pandemic, although this is a non-economic category. After all, the economy enables us to save some money. Therefore, it was decided that these COVID allowances should be left in the healthcare system in order to try to raise wages at their expense. Naturally, teachers and lecturers are also state employees, like others. Therefore, it was also necessary to increase their salaries in order to keep balance.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko also recalled the support for pensioners this year and promised ‘to support them three times next year, as they are not a rich category of people’.

Today’s topic is the monetary allowance of military personnel, special forces, and special services (particularly the KGB). An obligatory condition, to which the President draws the principal attention of the meeting participants, is not to unbalance the system, “A certain system has already been formed in security structures. There is a certain balance there. Raising the wages of one category, we must not destroy this equilibrium and disturb the balance. This is the main topic of today’s discussion.”

The Head of State believes that a certain opinion will be worked out, and appropriate decisions will be made today, “These must be adopted today, so that from January 1st, all topics related to raising wages for teachers, doctors, state employees, and the military begin to work. At the same time, I pay attention that we must proceed from the possibilities of the economy: there is money - we pay, no money – we don’t pay... But so far there is some money, let’s support our people, as we promised.”

In continuation of yesterday’s meeting with the President, the Belarusian leader drew attention to another important and burning issue of the day, “Both the military, and the special services, and the Interior Ministry, and the KGB must work efficiently and without fail.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko also recalled that a decision was recently made to support the construction of housing for people in uniform.
