Lukashenko congratulated President of the State of Palestine on International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, congratulated President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People – as reported by the Belarusian leader’s press service

“As a founding country of the United Nations, Belarus consistently advocates strict implementation of the UN Charter,” the congratulatory message reads. “In the current unpredictable period of turbulence in the spheres of global politics, economics and security, one of the main provisions of this document sounds more relevant than ever before – the principle of equality and self-determination of peoples – which aims to develop friendly relations between nations on the basis of mutual respect.”

The Belarusian leader drew attention to the fact that over the past 75 years, the Palestinians’ call to the international community to support them on the path to statehood and national sovereignty in accordance with generally accepted international legal norms and decisions of the UN General Assembly has become increasingly loud.

“Today, most of humanity understands that the search for a historical compromise for the creation of the State of Palestine, the establishment of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East are an important basis for the well-being of the region, as well as for stability throughout the world,” the President of Belarus underlined.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian people a speedy achievement of agreement and the establishment of a peaceful life on their land.
