Lukashenko: Belarus successfully tested its own missile for Buk air defence system

Belarus has tested its own missile for the Buk air defence system – as stated by Aleksandr Lukashenko at a ceremony of presenting state awards and epaulettes to senior officers

“The day before yesterday [March 5th] we tested the Buk missile to our air defence system. It flew to the right place and did everything that was necessary,” the President of Belarus said. “Therefore, you [the military] now have your own terrible weapon against aerial devices.”

The Belarusian Head of State stressed that a lot has been done recently to ensure that our army, our security forces are armed with real weapons and adequately defend our Motherland.

As reported, in May 2022, the State Authority for Military Industry informed about the testing of new missiles for the Polonez and Buk systems.

“Rocket and missile engineering is currently one of the key areas of the State Authority for Military Industry. In May, we will have another stage of tests, followed by the next stage in August. I think that during this year, by analogy with the past, we will carry out several stages and at the end of the year we will report to the Head of State on the fulfilment of the tasks that stand in this key area of the State Authority for Military Industry,” said Dmitry Pantus, Chairman of the State Authority for Military Industry.
