Russia is observing attempts by NATO countries to militarise the Arctic, but Moscow's reaction will be ‘both conceptual and practical’ – as stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, TASS reports
At the opening of the recent plenary session of the international socio-political hearings on the formation of a unified, equal system of security and co-operation in Eurasia, the Foreign Minister stated, “If we look at the north of the continent, we can see blatant attempts to militarise the Arctic and search for excuses to infiltrate NATO infrastructure there. These adverse trends require an adequate response – both conceptual and practical. We are convinced that this is the opinion of most other Eurasian states, which cannot be satisfied with such a situation.”
