At the opening of the BRICS foreign ministers' meeting today, India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar stressed the growing importance of bringing the positions of the association’s members closer together in the current global environment, sb.by reports
According to TASS, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar called the meeting a special event allowing for an exchange of views and strengthening coherence in an unstable world.
The External Affairs Minister of India noted that, against the background of ongoing conflicts, economic uncertainty and challenges in the areas of trade, technology and climate, BRICS is expected to play a constructive and stabilising role, especially from developing countries and emerging markets. According to him, the current discussions provide an opportunity to reflect on global and regional processes and outline practical steps to strengthen co-operation.
