India, which holds the BRICS chairmanship this year, intends to hold a summit of the association in New Delhi, TASS reports
The summit is reportedly scheduled for September 12-13. It is noted that invitations to the participants have not yet been sent out.
BRICS was founded in 2006, and South Africa joined Brazil, Russia, India and China in 2011. Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Ethiopia became full members of the association on January 1st, 2024. Indonesia joined BRICS on January 6th, 2025. Since the beginning of last year, Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Thailand, Uganda and Uzbekistan have officially received the status of partners, and Nigeria joined them on January 17th.
