Gyula Thürmer: let referendum become new stage in Belarus’ development

The President of Belarus received a greeting from the Chairman of the Hungarian Workers’ Party, Gyula Thürmer, on the occasion of holding a nationwide referendum dealing with additions and amendments to the Constitution

“Under your leadership, the Republic of Belarus has come a long way in recent years. Domestic political stability has been restored in Belarus. The working people of Belarus, the absolute majority of the Belarusian people supported the policy you proposed. People understood that only creative work, efficient use of the country’s resources, cohesion of all population groups can create conditions for Belarus’ future prosperity,” reads the message.

On behalf of himself and the Hungarian Workers’ Party, Gyula Thürmer expressed his conviction that the updated Constitution will provide strong political and legal guarantees for Belarus’ future development, countering the challenges and threats to the statehood and independence of the Republic of Belarus.

“The people of Belarus will be able to express their opinion on this people’s Constitution, which was born in the course of a broad public dialogue, based on the proposals of labour teams. The changes made to the Constitution correspond to the historical development and national peculiarities of Belarus. They give people wider than ever before, democratic rights, ensuring the effective protection of human values, family and nation,” continues the congratulatory message.

Gyula Thürmer assured that the Hungarian Workers’ Party supports Aleksandr Lukashenko in protecting Belarus’ independence and ensuring the country’s peaceful development. The Hungarian politician wished the referendum on February 27th to be successful and become a new stage in the development and strengthening of the country.
