The two sides need new promising areas of co-operation — as noted by Belarus’ Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin during the meeting with the Governor of the Astrakhan Region, Igor Babushkin, with a remark that existing bilateral trade growth is quite successful
“It is particularly important for us to hear your perspective on identifying new promising directions, from your point of view, for co-operation with Belarus. Regarding trade figures, the situation is quite positive – turnover continues to grow. As noted during your meeting with the President, we must address minor trade imbalances and this is entirely manageable. Equipment shipments from Belarus continue and your cargo transhipment facilities remain operational. Everything works well so far, though we wish to highlight that there are other areas with successful co-operation potential. We believe your visit will provide fresh momentum to our bilateral relations,” Aleksandr Turchin emphasised.
In response, Igor Babushkin noted that one of the new promising areas for co-operation with Belarus is tourism.
"Tourism opportunities of our own may interest Belarusians, while your country's natural beauty could greatly appeal to the Astrakhan Region residents," Igor Babushkin remarked.
