Energy security is a key element of the country's national security, while the stability of the economy and the ability to withstand external threats directly depend on the reliability of the energy system – as stated by Belarus’ Energy Minister Denis Moroz at a meeting with the Grodno Electric Networks personnel, sb.by reports with reference to the Energy Ministry

Belarus’ energy security is at the forefront of national priorities, being an integral part of the state security. “Energy security is a component of the strategic security of the state,” Mr. Moroz said. “The security of the country as a whole largely depends on how well we are able to form and protect it.” He added that the consistent implementation of the Sustainable Energy and Efficiency state programme lays a solid foundation for economic progress and increased defence capability.

"It is necessary to solve the issue of increasing the efficiency of using electric and thermal energy in the real sector of the economy, and our fuel and energy portfolio needs to be as diversified as possible to ensure energy sustainability. The Sustainable Energy and Efficiency programme stipulates that the energy independence of our state should reach 33 percent by 2030," the Energy Minister detailed the strategic guidelines.

During the conversation, the issues of infrastructure modernisation, the results of 2025, and the achievements of the industry over the five-year period were touched upon as well.
