Details of Lukashenko's meeting with Mirziyoyev: making next step is the key

The presidents of Belarus and Uzbekistan, Aleksandr Lukashenko and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, have discussed further work on the development of bilateral relations at today’s meeting in Bishkek before the CIS summit, BelTA reports with reference to the Belarusian leader’s press service

According to the source, the heads of state focused on the main and most important issues of Belarusian-Uzbek relations.

It was noted that the trade turnover has positive dynamics, but its growth potential is much more serious. In this regard, making the next step is the key – and this is the task of governments. It is important to develop in-depth co-operation in the economy. Belarusian technologies are of interest to Uzbekistan in various sectors, primarily industry.

Aleksandr Lukashenko and Shavkat Mirziyoyev outlined a work plan and discussed preparations for the upcoming visit of the President of Belarus to Uzbekistan.

It was also agreed to hold a meeting of the intergovernmental commission in late November or early December – to structure the tasks in detail and identify additional points of growth of bilateral relations.

Reginal co-operation is among the most important aspects of bilateral liaisons, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to draw up a schedule of the regional agenda for 2024.

The presidents also touched upon the issues of youth policy and co-operation in the humanitarian sphere at the meeting.

Aleksandr Lukashenko and Shavkat Mirziyoyev thoroughly discussed the global agenda: the situation in the world as a whole and in its regions, as well as hot spots.

As noted by the leaders, today’s meeting is a foundation for the future.
