CSTO Secretary General: our organisation’s peacekeeping potential really works

This was stated by the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, Stanislav Zas, during a special online session of the CSTO Collective Security Council which focused on the situation in Kazakhstan and measures to normalise it. He stressed that an immediate decision to send peacekeeping forces made it possible to deploy the latter fairly quickly. It took two days to complete the organisational procedures. Within four days, 108 flights were made from Russia to Kazakhstan.

Mr. Zas added that tomorrow he would fly to Kazakhstan.

The Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation emphasised that military servants view their peacekeeping mission as ‘we live and perform tasks as one family’. This is the first experience of such a campaign. Its details will be further analysed, while lessons will be learned and conclusions will be drawn.

“The main conclusion is that our organisation’s peacekeeping potential and the mechanism of its use really work and are able to fulfil the set tasks,” Mr. Zas said.
