Constitutional referendum being held in Belarus today

Today, February 27th, is the main voting day of the nationwide referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution in Belarus, and polling stations are open until 8pm

Voters need to answer a single question: Do you accept the amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus? They should put their mark in one of two boxes: ‘for’ and ‘against’, and absolutely any mark can be put. If both boxes are marked or no mark is put in either of them, then such a ballot is considered invalid.

The referendum is held by universal, free, equal and secret ballot. Citizens who are eighteen years of age or older have the right to vote, and each one shall vote in person.

The referendum shall be considered valid if more than half of the citizens on voting lists cast their vote.
