Brest business opportunities presented in Bulgaria

Brest’s Union of Entrepreneurs, Employers and Artisans regional public association and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Stara Zagora (Bulgaria) signed a co-operation agreement during the Chirpan-2021 International Economic Forum – as informed by the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Sofia

As reported, a delegation of business circles of the Brest Region – led by the Deputy Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, Dmitry Gorodetsky – has visited Bulgaria to take part in the Chirpan-2021 International Economic Forum and present the Belarusian region.

In addition to signing a co-operation agreement and participating in the forum, the delegation members negotiated further liaisons in the field of trade, investment, industry and tourism with their foreign partners. They also visited the major economic centres of Bulgaria – Plovdiv, Bourgas and Stara Zagora – and held talks with their governors to discuss co-operation between the two states’ regions in a wide range of spheres, mostly trade and economic areas. The parties also agreed to intensify collaboration in the field of tourism, sports, cultural and youth exchanges.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Bulgaria – Aleksandr Lukashevich, the Honorary Consul of Belarus in Bourgas – Atanas Popov, and the Honorary Consul of Belarus in Plovdiv – Krasimir Shalev – participated in the events as well.

According to the Belarusian Embassy, in late 2020, the foreign trade turnover between the Brest Region and Bulgaria exceeded $9m – 1.8-times up on 2019. Exports stood at $5m and imports made 4.3m.
