Belarusian Women’s Union: our country is not an aggressor

In its Telegram channel, the Belarusian Women's Union appeals to all women of the world to unite forces to stop hostilities

The appeal notes that Belarus voluntarily renounced nuclear weapons, but Belarusian women now read the news about the build-up of the NATO forces around the country’s borders ‘with alarm and misunderstanding’.

"Our country has never been and will never be an aggressor, there is no threat to other countries from our land. Why are they acting in this way towards us – using intimidation instead of security guarantees, hybrid wars and sanctions instead of the usual respect for national interests?" the Belarusian Women's Union notes.

The association appeals to all ladies of the world, women's and human rights organisations to join forces to stop ‘all military actions’.

"Our voice must be heard! The world is one step away from a nuclear catastrophe! If the UN, its international commissions and committees do not see or do not want to see what is happening today, do not want or cannot take measures to resolve military conflicts – silently contemplating the supply of lethal weapons and anti-personnel mines, undisguised Nazi crimes against civilians – then maybe we, women of the world, will loudly talk about it! Can they hear us? Maybe our unanimity will prompt the right decision and make it possible to stop wars?" the appeal reads.

The Belarusian Women's Union notes that if the principles of international law do not work, then they are probably outdated or it is time to change the centres of decision-making and influence in the world, ending economic and political blackmail and threats.

"We urge all women to raise their voices to avoid hot World War III – a war that will have no winners," the statement concludes.
