Representatives of various branches of the Armed Forces took part in the ceremony on the National Flag Square. They swore before the Belarusian people and the Commander-in-Chief that they are always ready to reliably defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Motherland.

“We, servicemen and members of the law enforcement agencies, assure the entire Belarusian people and you, Comrade Commander-in-Chief, that we are always ready to reliably defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our Motherland. Today, on the day of assuming the office of the President of the Republic of Belarus, we solemnly swear to bear with dignity and honour the high title of the defender of the Fatherland, to serve the Belarusian people and the President of the Republic of Belarus wholeheartedly, to defend our Motherland courageously, skilfully, without sparing our strength and our lives! We swear!” State Secretary of Belarus’ Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich read out the text of the oath.

The servicemen responded with a triple ‘We swear!’

Then the orchestra played the National Anthem. Six volleys of artillery salute added to the special solemnity of the moment.

The servicemen of the Guard of Honour marched in front of the Commander-in-Chief. The participants of the event performed a military-patriotic song, The March, with lyrics by Yulia Bykova and music by Yevgeny Oleinik.
