Belarus, Vietnam step up co-operation in economy, trade and tourism

The Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives, Valery Mitskevich, met with the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Vong Dinh Hue, the House of Representatives’ press service reports

The meeting was held as part of the 43rd AIPA General Assembly of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Cambodian Phnom Penh, and the parties expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to meet on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Vong Dinh Hue confirmed that his country always attaches great importance to relations with traditional friends, including Belarus. He noted that friendship and multifaceted liaisons between Vietnam and Belarus are successfully developing, the parties co-ordinate efforts, consult and support each other in such mechanisms of multilateral parliamentary co-operation as the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

In order for the interaction between the two countries to become deeper, meaningful and effective, the parties agreed to promote co-operation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, and tourism. They also decided to view parliamentary co-operation as an important channel of Belarusian-Vietnamese relations.

Mr. Mitskevich congratulated Vietnam on its election to the UN Human Rights Council. In turn, Vong Dinh Hue invited the Chairman and the Deputy Chairman of Belarus’ House of Representatives, as well as the Chairman of the Council of the Republic to pay an official visit to Vietnam in the near future.
