Belarus Segodnya Editor-in-Chief: Partisans of Belarus exhibition sounded in new way as part of Marathon of Unity

On December 6th and 7th, as part of the Marathon of Unity nationwide socio-cultural campaign in Orsha, everyone could get acquainted with the Partisans of Belarus exhibition at the Military History Museum (named after Hero of the Soviet Union K. S. Zaslonov), which illustrates the special project of the same name by the Belarus Segodnya Publishing House and the National Archives of Belarus. Director and Editor-in-Chief of the publishing house Dmitry Zhuk, talking to the journalists, noted that the unity is based on historical memory, and especially on the memory of the heroes who defended our Motherland during the Great Patriotic War.

Such people, he emphasised, are in almost every Belarusian family, which is why the Partisans of Belarus exposition resonates with a large number of citizens.

“Any visitor can try to find information about their heroic relative or acquaintance here. This bridge to the past evokes an emotional reaction in each of us, because it concerns our family, city, community. It is also a bridge of connection between us in modern times, because those people who fought in the war did one common thing for each of us. As part of the Marathon of Unity, the exhibition sounded in a new way. It has also become a kind of bridge between people who come here. Many visitors find information, real documents, award lists, combat characteristics of their relatives who fought in partisan units. We take co-ordinates of almost all of them, and we will definitely write their stories in the newspapers of our publishing house. The interest in the exhibition is really huge. Orsha is the third city where the exposition is on show; in the first two cities, many visitors came to see it. Here, we are sure that there will be no less guests,” Dmitry Zhuk said.

He also added that the Belarus Segodnya Publishing House can boast of other large-scale projects dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. Perhaps, some of the exhibits will be added to the Partisans of Belarus exhibition, “Today we have another exposition, which travels to small towns and settlements: Obelisks of the Great Feat. There are video clips dedicated to Orsha: to the first volley of ‘Katyusha’ [one of the most iconic Soviet weapons of WWII], to Captain Flerov, who first used this legendary rocket launcher on July 14th, 1941. The footage is very good, these materials can be found on the sb.by website. We also decided for the first time to make a location for photos in Orsha, which enjoys popularity among youngsters.”
