The document was inked following a working meeting of Belarus’ Communications and Informatisation Minister, Konstantin Shulgan, with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Belarus, Juan Valdes Figueroa. As reported by the Belarusian ministry, the sides discussed prospects for development of Belarusian-Cuban co-operation in the field communications and ICT, also sharing mutual confidence that bilateral liaisons in this area can serve as an additional impetus for further strengthening of Belarusian-Cuban trade and economic relations.

In addition, the sides exchanged invitations to take part in the 18th Together for Digital Transformation conference and international fair scheduled to be held on March 21st-25th in Havana, and the 28th TIBO-2022 international ICT forum in June in Minsk.

As reported by Belarus’ Communications and Informatisation Ministry, the signed memorandum of understanding and co-operation aims ‘to develop co-operation in the field of telecommunications, postal communications, introduction of information and communication technologies in industries and functional spheres of the economy, including smart city technology and e-government’.
