The project is being implemented jointly with the Regional Executive Committee and a tourist firm, involving around 200 youngsters aged between 18 and 31: members of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union and the Russian Union of All-Russian Youth (a public organisation from the Pskov and Smolensk regions) alongside members of youth patriotic unions and of creative groups.

Youngsters will have the chance to chat with veterans, creating an audio and video archive, as well as visiting museums and memorable battle sites, and taking part in concerts, round table discussions and other thematic events.

Together with the regional library, from January until May 9th, there will be events to mark the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, entitled Reading About War. Enthusiastic young people will be able to perform at various events, reciting poems about war by famous authors and presenting their own verse.

“One of the key projects of the Year of Youth is the formation and work of the regional youth parliament, with elections scheduled for the beginning of the year. Of course, youngsters in the Vitebsk Region will take an active part in all stages of the Presidential electoral campaign,” adds Yulia Novikova, the First Secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, commenting on the work of the youth organisation in 2015.
