This theatrical performance is in a way unique, because this is the first project in Belarus where all the actors are convicts of Gomel penal colony.
The initiators of this project are the Ministry of Interior Affairs, the Social Support Centre of the Belarusian Women’s Union and the Swedish NGO “N-STUDIO”. The specialists say that the theatre can help convicts to find other life values and change for the better.
This time the audience of the regional drama theatre consisted of representatives of the correctional institution, the regional office of interior affairs and the convicts’ relatives.
As BELTA correspondent was told by the administration of the penal colony, the art director of the project is the leading actor of Gomel regional drama theatre Alexei Bychkov. The company selected by him from amount the convicts consists of 16 women. Not long ago this unique company started working on another performance.
