Belarusian seismologists launch work in Krasnodar Krai

Near Krymsk, Belarus is conducting 3D seismic exploration over an area of 55 square kilometres, alongside 2D exploration covering 130 linear kilometres. Belorusneft’s contract with Geoseis Technology Company sees five СВ-30/120Н vibroseis sources (made by Gomel-based Seismotekhnika) shipped to Russia, accompanied by eight seismology specialists.

Geoseis Technology is part of the famous Geoseis Holding Company and specialises in geological surveys and geophysical studies. Belarusian seismologists have been co-operating with the company for over 15 years and regularly take part in seismic exploration across the Russian Federation, making use of Belarus-made equipment.

Every two years, Russian and Belarusian geologists attend geophysical seminars in Rechitsa: establishing new contacts, analysing global trends in seismology and investigating the latest technologies and equipment.

In recent years, the export of seismic exploration services has become an important source of revenue for Belorusneft, including seismic prospecting in Venezuela and Ecuador, among other countries. Belarusian seismologists tend to use equipment produced by Seismotekhnika.

Several days ago, the company successfully passed an audit of its quality management system — conducted by the American Petroleum Institute. The company is the first in the CIS to gain a certificate of compliance with international API Spec Q1, 4F quality standards for its production of derricks and derrick supports for drilling units. Auditors looked at the security of construction, ecological characteristics and the culture of production. Certification in line with API standards enables Gomel machine builders to reinforce their export position.
