In Search of the Safest Project

The Department of Energy held the first consultations with the companies — potential participants of the tender for the construction of the APS in Belarus. The deputy minister of the Department Mikhaill Mikhadiuk informed about it the deputies of the House of Representatives of the National assembly at the seminar in Novolukoml. “We are obliged to choose the safest, most reliable and economical project”, — emphasized the deputy minister.

He noted that Belarusian side has familiarized with the nuclear power experience of such countries as Russia, France, Bulgaria, China, Finland, including the experience of preparation of the standard-legal base, activity of the adjusting body in the field of nuclear power and carrying out tenders.
According to Mikhaill Mikhadiuk, at the present the preparatory stage of the construction of the atomic power station is being carried out in republic. “We have already counted the financing and today we are carrying out some spade-work”, — he said. The deputy minister has noted that the Ministerial Council approves the plan of the basic spadework. Their coordination is carried out by the special interdepartmental commission. A bill about the use of atomic energy is developed and today it was presented to the deputies.
Besides, 18 top-priority normative documents for operating during the preparatory period of the creation of the atomic power station are being prepared. The program of the professional training in the field of nuclear power in Belarus has already been developed.

Mikhaill Mikhadiuk emphasized that the construction of the atomic power station in Belarus will insure the provision of energetic consciousness of the republics and increase of the economic efficiency of the electric power producing. Today the cost price of one K.W.H. of the electric power, produced at condensation stations of Belarus is more than 4 cents. According to the experts, the cost price of one K.W.H. at the atomic power station makes from 1.5 up to 1.8 cents.
