Commercial Bridge: Belarus-Turkey International Business Forum gathered over 130 representatives of Turkish business in Istanbul on August 28th

forum.pngThe Belarusian delegation comprised representatives of the Belarus Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), enterprises of the Bellesbumprom Concern, Belintertrans Transport and Logistic Centre and officials of the Belarusian diplomatic missions in Turkey. The delegation was headed by Belarus’ Consul General in Istanbul, Igor Belyi.

On behalf of Turkey, the forum was attended by representatives of the business sector, commodity exchanges, logistics companies, business unions and associations of Turkey. In total, the event was attended by more than 130 representatives of Turkish business.

Mr. Belyi said in his welcoming address to the participants of the forum, that constructive co-operation between enterprises of Belarus and Turkey is the true engine behind the development of interaction between the two countries. Moreover, the General Consul paid attention that such forms of product promotion and sale as industrial co-operation and e-commerce are very promising.

During the business forum, representatives of the Belarusian companies made presentations about business conditions in Belarus, the opportunities of e-commerce and the stock market of the country. Meanwhile, the Consulate General noted that emphasis was placed on the potential for co-operation in the timber industry.

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce hosted a business match-making session for Belarusian and Turkish companies. The parties discussed future areas of mutually advantageous collaboration, including delivery of products using stock exchange technologies. After the meeting, agreements were reached on the expansion of bilateral trade, including the supply of timber, sawn timber, plywood, chipboard, fibreboard, and newsprint. A number of Turkish companies expressed interest in setting up joint ventures on Belarus territory.

The business forum was organised by the General Consulate of Belarus in Istanbul with the participation of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange and the Belarusian Embassy in Turkey.
