Andrievsky heads Gomel for second time

Alexander Andrievsky appointed head coach of Gomel HC by supervisory board, performing in Belarusian Extraleague


Alexander previously worked as head coach for Gomel HC, taking the team to second place in the national championship in the 2008/09 season. At that time, the Gomel squad played 85 matches under his guidance, claiming 58 victories. Mr. Andrievsky has also acted as head coach for Dinamo Minsk, departing last year, and helped coach the junior Belarusian squad (U-20) for the 2008 World Championship. He was part of the coaching team for the Belarusian national squad at the World Championship in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, and helped the team reach the qualifying round for the 2014 Olympiad.

In his younger years, he played ice hockey in USSR championships, with Dinamo Minsk, and for the USSR’s national squad, before captaining the Belarusian national ice hockey squad for a long time. He played for various Belarusian squads (including Gomel), as well as for teams in Russia, Germany, Finland, Switzerland and North America (NHL and IHL).
