The Head of State said that only 91 percent of the planned herbal feed were harvested last year. “Technologies of harvesting and storage of herbal feeds are being violated, and the fodder base – which is not quite sufficient – is worsening. The provision of feed as a whole per conditional head of livestock countywide has decreased to 33.5 hundredweight of feed units, and every second district falls short of the 2022 level. The availability of feed is falling, but we have a wealth of experience in their production. Why do not we use it?” Aleksandr Lukashenko wondered.

According to the Belarusian leader, back in the USSR, since the second half of the last century, pellets for animal feed were produced from grass flour, “If herbs are selected properly, such feeds have more vitamins and minerals, and their shelf life is longer. Moreover, the granulation technology is simple, it has been perfectly mastered in woodworking already. Such feeds are used at Parokhonskoye JSC in the Brest Region. Why is this experience not used by others?”

The President added that a ‘cosmic’ complex to produce amino acids and compound feeds had been built in the country: Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation. “It is necessary to use all the capabilities of this enterprise to produce balanced feeds. The feed processing capacities available in the country are able to cover the needs for compound feeds and additives in full. So why are the requests of individual farms that are ready to pay in advance not being fulfilled? I instruct the Government, the Academy of Sciences and the regional executive committees to develop a strategy for providing Belarusian livestock with concentrated feed. The task is to ensure that each farm has all types of the required feed at its disposal in full (at least 45-50 quintals of feed units per conditional head of livestock).

At the same time, the Head of State demanded to solve the problem of silage trenches in order to ensure the safety of harvested feed.
