Belavia is actively considering the purchase of new aircraft for the upcoming summer season – as stated by Belarus’ Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Lyakhnovich, the First News channel reports
Mr. Lyakhnovich stressed that Belavia is at a serious stage of working on this issue, especially after the recent lifting of sanctions. “I will not voice the figures yet, but the airline has set a task to purchase from three to five aircraft by the summer season in order to meet the demand of the population for flights to resort cities as much as possible,” he said.
This year, the Belavia fleet has been replenished with two Airbus A330-200 aircraft, and the third aircraft of the same model will be put into operation by February 2026.
The Transport and Communications Minister also mentioned the development of about 20 routes, among which the Chinese one is a priority. He also said that long-haul aircraft are mainly used for charter programmes at the moment. In addition, regular flights to Almaty will be launched on December 18th, serviced by Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
